(Populus tremuloides)
It turns a vibrant gold in the fall but has year-round interest with its smooth, white bark that is similar to birch trees. This tree has a few more party tricks than just color and ornamental bark, the sound of the leaves blowing in the wind resembles the sound of flowing water. It is an amazingly adaptable tree, tolerating both dry conditions and even some standing water. It is fast-growing with a pyramidal canopy shape.
As the tree matures, be on the lookout for Hypoxylon canker-if caught early your tree can survive it!
